Di seguito una lista di superstizioni che si crede agiscano in modo positivo o negativo rispetto alla fortuna del giocatore.
Raccogliere le carte prima che il dealer abbia finito di distribuirle a tutti i giocatori attivi. Ci potrebbe essere una spiegazione logica a questa superstizione. Se raccogliete le vostre carte prima che gli altri abbiano fatto altrettanto, i vostri avversari (non ancora concentrati nelle loro mani) potrebbero leggere la vostra reazione al vostro pocket e trarne delle conclusioni certe in proposito. Non vorrete mica dar loro un vantaggio del genere
Raccogliere le carte con la mano sinistra. La mano sinistra è stata per secoli associata alle azioni malvagie. Si credeva anche che le streghe facessero uso della mano sinistra per indicare le persone che intendevano condannare alla perpetua sofferenza. Perciò, usare la mano sinistra cercando il successo nel poker è generalmente poco raccomandato.
Caduta accidentale di una carta nel corso del gioco. Proprio come per la prima superstizione della quale abbiamo discusso, anche in questa potrebbe esserci una qualche logica.
